School Accident Claims

When we take our children to school we expect them to be safe from injury, however accidents do happen and compensation can and should be claimed for.  Schools have insurance to protect their staff and pupils from injury.

Universities, colleges and nurseries are also places where many accidents happen.  The injuries resulted from accidents vary greatly.  There have been cases where a child ripped a finger from climbing over a fence as the gate wouldn’t open, which led to the finger being amputated.  This resulted in compensation of £10,000 being paid to the child.  When a child under 18 is awarded compensation most of the money is put in a high interest court trust fund until they reach the age of 18.  Once they turn 18 the money is then given to them for them to do what they wish with it.  Some of the money however can be used for things that the child might need which will help them in the mean time.  For instance if your child suffered a disability due to the accident some of the money will be available for things that will help them live their life like wheelchairs.

Some of the most common types of claims we deal with relating to accident at schools include cases where people have:

  • Slip or trip within the school building or on school grounds
  • Defective equipment
  • Sporting accident
  • Climbing fences
  • Bus Accidents
  • Road Accidents
  • Food poisoning

Other incidents include children being assaulted or attacked whilst at school.  Each case is unique so there are no guarantees of compensation being awarded.  Luckily you can put in a claim for compensation without any cost to yourself.  With No Win No Fee you can put in a claim at no risk to yourself.  Your solicitor takes on all of the risk and if they don’t win they will not get paid.  This means personal injury lawyers will not take on a case they believe they will not win.  If they believe it is a 50/50 chance they could win they will take out insurance to cover their costs in the event of losing the claim.

If you or your child is injured at school and the accident was someone else´s fault, you may be able to make a claim for compensation and should definitely do so.  Maybe you yourself are at university but had an accident and believe the university is liable.  If so then contact Accident Payout today to see how we can help you.
